Public Art at Otomisan Restaurant
Otomisan Yarnbomb is a temporary crocheted installation in homage to Otomisan Restaurant, recently honored by the City of Los Angeles as the last remaining Japanese restaurant in Boyle Heights, California. The red circles evoke the Japanese flag and echo the welcoming paper lanterns under the eaves. Their rhythmic repetition invites the viewer’s eye upward toward the sign, to reflect upon the stories represented by it, and the enduring presence of a cultural landmark.
Group Installation at Cerritos College Art Gallery
Co-curated by Darlyn Susan Yee and David Orozco of Yarn Bombing Los Angeles, the latest incarnation of Forest For The Trees was on view through February 7, 2026 in the Projects Room at Cerritos College Art Gallery in Norwalk, California. The installation included creations from over 100 artist contributors. An Intro to Yarn Bombing workshop was presented to 3D Design students who collaborated on their own public installation.
Community Engagement Activity at the Autry Museum
Facilitated a drop-in workshop to transform the mezzanine railing into a community created art installation, Inspired By Nature, which was on view through November 19, 2025. The workshop was one of the Autry After Hours programs at the Autry Museum of the American West in Los Angeles, California.
Solo Exhibition at Ryan Art Gallery
Textile Transformations: Redefining Fiber Sculpture, was on view through October 11, 2025 at the prestigious Ryan Art Gallery in Rolling Hills Estates, California. This sculptural knotted work showcases Darlyn Susan Yee's focus on innovation with traditional knotting techniques and sustainable practices.
Group Installation at Descanso Gardens
Forest For The Trees, an installation co-curated by Darlyn Susan Yee and David Orozco of Yarn Bombing Los Angeles, was on view through October 12, 2025. The fiber forest filled the Boddy House Library with creations from over 60 artists. in conjunction with Roots Of Cool: A Celebration of Trees and Shade in a Warming World at Descanso Gardens in La Cañada Flintridge, California.
Community Engagement Activity at the Autry Museum
Collaborating with members of Yarn Bombing Los Angeles to facilitate a drop-in workshop resulting in a community created art installation, Simple Pleasures, which was on view through June 11, 2025. As part of the Autry After Hours programs, the workshop to create the installation was held at the Autry Museum of the American West in Los Angeles, California.
